Investment Team

Joe Harriman, CFA Chief Operations Officer

Joe Harriman joined CTC in April 2006 as Operations Manager and Head of Investor Relations for CTC Alternative Strategies, Ltd. In 2017, he helped create CTC Wealth Management LLC and establish a closed end fund division targeting uncorrelated asset classes.

Prior to 2017, he managed the operations of a multi-strategy proprietary trading company focused on global investment in equities, fixed income , and various derivatives. Currently, he serves as COO of CTC Capital Management LLC, a SEC registered investment advisor. In this capacity he successfully formed nine closed end funds, including four real estate funds acquiring over $800 million in multifamily real estate. Prior to CTC, he spent several years in Institutional Client Services at Galyon Financial , and the Chicago Board of Trade. He received his B.S. in Finance from Arizona State University in1995 and his M.S. in Financial Markets from Illinois Institute of Technology in 2005. He is a CFA Charterholder and member if the CFA Society of Chicago.

Mark Purtell Head of Real Estate Acquisitions

Mark Purtell joined CTC in June 2001 as a market making trading assistant and worked on the trading side of CTC until transitioning to Head of Real Estate Acquisitions and Development in 2020. Prior to 2020, he split time between trading and real estate with CTC, helping expand the operator network to increase investment diversification across the United States.

Mark is responsible for creating the CTC proprietary real estate underwriting models, monitoring all aspects of portfolio performance, and assisting in quarterly reporting. Since 2002, he has been active in the Chicago market for his own account with a focus on multifamily investments. He received a B.S. in Finance from University of Illinois in 2001 and holds Series 4, 7, 24, and 57 licenses.

Preston Hartsell Analyst

Preston Hartsell joined CTC Capital Management in 2023 and focuses on the underwriting and due diligence of potential fund investments. He provides analytical support throughout the life span of all investments, from the sourcing of investments through the tracking of portfolio performance and eventual disposition.

Prior to CTC Capital Management, Preston interned for Essex Property Trust, focusing on portfolio data analytics, and most recently worked at Northmarq, underwriting multi-family properties all throughout California. Preston was born and raised in Newport Beach, CA where he then went on to earn a Division I baseball scholarship as an outfielder for the University of Southern California in addition to earing a B.S. in Real Estate Development from the Price School of Public Policy.
